photography & blog

an old school blog, why “my room,” and how I really miss the old days of blogging

7th Jun ' 17

I’ve missed blogging for the sake of simply writing and sharing images.

Not sponsors or affiliates or link ups.

The thing I loved about blogging is the simplicity of what it was always supposed to be {in my opinion}: When it was just the sharing of writing and your stories for what they are. Not twee, or contrived, or try had, just the plain truth of it.

I’ve attempted to blog personally on my photography website, but that hasn’t felt quite right.

I’ve guest blogged at ROYAL, and that was great, reminding me of the beautiful plainness of text plus image.

Instagram captions always seem short and not the right venue.

Creole Wisdom feels too far away {though I love reading the archives and am so grateful I have them!}.

For a while I’ve shared sharp, pointed stories about race in Facebook notes.

A few days ago my friend Kathy called and left me a voicemail: “I had a dream and I think you’re supposed to start blogging again, something about My Room.”

So, I am giving this a shot.

I love this and I’m so excited to read! What a great story about how you got the name. 🙂

I could not agree more! I know I’m about two months late to this blog post, but I’m so happy to see that you have a personal blog again. I think blogs can be such a gift–to both the blogger and the reader. I’m glad you will be sharing again, friend.
