how we chose our doula

27th Feb ' 18

I am presently 2/3 of the way through my own doula certification process, with my final certification birth happening at the end of next month {hooray!}. I attended my doula training through DONA in the fall and loved it. I chose to pursue doulaing after observing my best friend's son's birth in April. I love photographing births, and there's a beautiful spirit that is in the birthing room.

Anyway, of course I knew we'd choose a doula {a birth support person and a resource}.

One of my dear friends Marjorie suggested taking the Hypnobabies birth course. I had also heard that Bradley Method was excellent as well, but twelve weeks just wasn't possible with our work schedules.

I was happy to learn that the Hypnobabies course Marjorie suggested was run through a company called ByWater– and that they also offered doula and placenta encapsulation services. Three in one, I love it!

We met Anne and Aileen over coffee and just loved them.

So far I've been so impressed with their support. I've reached out when I haven't felt well or had outrageous amounts of questions.

Doulas are the BEST! I love love love my doula and I’m positive I’ll love her forever, even long after I’m done having babies. Someone who helps you in that most sacred of moments has a special place in your heart forever, that’s for sure! (All that oxytocin in the moment doesn’t hurt either.) 😉
