I feel like this is the first holiday as a mom where I don’t feel totally overwhelmed and stressed out as I prepare. I am grateful for the sleep that I now get {up about 1-2 times now since teething started}, and for renewed energy. Easter is such a special day, and feels even moreso now that we have this girl.
Friday I took her to the studio. I wanted to get some mini-session-like photos of her. For years I hosted Petit Easter sessions at my studio. I loved capturing kiddos in their holiday best since our Minnesota weather often doesn’t like to cooperate 😉 This year it didn’t work for me schedule wise to host studio sessions again. But that didn’t stop me from taking out the old props and having fun:
Saturday I had an appointment to get my eye lashes filled then a shoot.
When I got home it was time to get Priscilla lunch, prep as much as I could for Sunday, and of course… dye eggs.
I asked Priscilla if she wanted to dye eggs and she smiled a huge grin. I take that as a “yes!”
We used the PAAS classic. Because it is a… classic.
I can’t tell you how fun it is to do this stuff now that P is here.
I love it.
We started out Sunday morning with Priscilla opening up her Easter Basket. It was still a little dark out and she loved the bubbles, new forks, and Easter story book {a gift from my friend Anne}. Afterward we all enjoyed a yummy breakfast of overnight french toast, bacon, and strawberries.
This book has THE most beautiful illustrations I’ve ever seen. Just stunning. Leah gave me Cilla’s stuffed friend… a cute alligator. She already has a stuffed bunny so this was perfect, thank you Leah:
Then we got ourselves ready for church…
Her expressions crack me up.
She wore my dress from 1987. The bonnet was a little tight. Oh well.
We ended up going into the Mother’s Room at the start of the sermon because P wanted to talk loudly. It was a party in there, though, with a few other mamas and babies. I just really love Calvary. It’s so great.
We got home and it was pretty easy to finish up the meal since I did so much prep work.
I took my bread dough out of the fridge {first time using an overnight, cool rise recipe— it was easy!} and prepared the rolls for the second rise.
Our ham cooked while we were at church, and the recipe Mara gave me was perfect.
All I had to do was stick the potatoes in.
When dad arrived he put together some delicious greens with kale.
This year I used all new recipes. I don’t know if that makes me adventurous or foolish, but honestly everything turned out so good. I felt like it was a kiss from heaven.
Priscilla woke up from her nap just in time for Easter dinner. I wasn’t sure she’d want to eat again since she’d already had lunch, but she proved us wrong with her first bite of ham. She does this thing now when she likes food where she grunts and clenches her fists. It is hysterical. Let’s just say that ham, rolls, and potatoes were all a hit with Miss Priscilla:
So was using her new fork 🙂
I just love these photos of Priscilla with her grandparents! She was enthralled with my dad’s beautiful searsucker shirt 🙂
I didn’t get a family photo, oh well!
We had a WONDERFUL day. I am thankful to my dad who took this photo of P and I:
What beauty, goodness, and truth our faith in Jesus provides. He is risen! He is risen indeed.
I’d love to see you over on Instagram, follow along with my daily photos here:
