Two months of our big baby boy, we adore him so much! Cliche, cliche, time continues to march on and the days fly by– even the hard ones. I say this to everyone: it’s somehow easier having two. We all love Langston and it has been a joy to watch him grow so much this month and get glimpses into his personality.
This month marked his first visit to a doctor, visiting a surgeon to see if he needed to have belly button hernia surgery {praise, he doesn’t!}, and moving into his nursery! By the end of next month he’ll have attended a wedding and visited his Grandma and Grandpa D twice. He’s taken a bottle, though no the biggest fan, but we won’t give up just yet.
Summer is dying down, and so we’ve been spending lots of time outdoors. We try and go for two walks a day and Langston has gotten used to snoozing in the Tula wrap. I’m trying to get him used to sleeping in his stroller bassinet, but so far we’ve only managed short snoozes. I’m hoping to purchase a second seat and infant insert for the stroller so I can take both him and Cilla on longer walks. I’m so grateful he takes a pacifier, making going out and about with him significantly less stressful than it was with Cilla.
Here is what life is like with LJ at two months:
He loves | Being talked to! He just started to coo and is starting to get generous with the smiles. He mostly enjoys talking to and smiling at Seth, which I cannot fault him for at all. I think he’s starting to figure out that he has a sister, and I anticipate those two having so much fun in the days and months ahead.
He detests | Truly, not much. He’s just a happy and easy going guy. I feel so very grateful. He suddenly is past the stage of sleeping loudly, being gassy, and fussing when we change his diaper. I know we have a few more weeks of him technically being a newborn, but this fourth trimester has truly been a blink.
What’s new | We had a really rough patch of sleep there for a while and in an attempt to get more rest moved LJ out of our room at night and into his crib. We had much needed success and he slept from 8:30-2:45am, then back down after a quick nursing session and up for the day at 8am. The following night he did 8:30-3 again! He seems to love having his own space and by the Grace of God {and thanks to taking a newborn sleep class at Taking Cara Babies}, he is able to put himself to sleep without much fuss and link his sleep cycles. Praise! We weren’t able to do this with Cilla until she was months older. We need our rest with our busy family life so I am thrilled he got the memo 😉
We visited my friend Kimi’s studio for some portraits. We did an almost identical session with Cilla, and I’m so tickled to have these images. Driving into the city, meeting a friend, it almost felt like life was “normal.” LJ isn’t shook by masks, it’s all he’s used to.
We found a wonderful new doctor closer to our home. I will miss our Minneapolis clinic much, but knew with two kiddos and likely another intense winter that we needed something closer. I was delighted to find our new clinic. LJ had a great visit, adding an inch and a half and two pounds since birth. Our big boy!
